A BRADFORD man has raised more than £10,000 for the city's Marie Curie Hospice by completing an epic bike ride.
Mark Cunningham, of Eccleshill, cycled a total of 520 miles from his home to Edinburgh and back over four days last month - raising £10,116 for the hospice.
Mark lost his parents Beryl and Jack to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cancer, and both spent their final days under the care of staff and volunteers at the hospice.
His friend, Helen Smith, also died at the hospice aged just 52.
Mark described the care they received as "awesome" and that he wanted to do as much as he could to help the hospice.
He said he encountered some challenges on the ride, including strong winds and a bike breakdown - but thankfully he had a spare in a van that was accompanying him.
"The last day was hard on the legs but knowing what I'd raised kept my spirits up," he added.
Mark thanked everyone who supported him, helping to raise the "staggering" sum of £10,116.
The Marie Curie Bradford Hospice supports people living with a terminal illness and those closest to them to live as well as possible.
