ENGLAND'S Euro 2024 matches will not be shown on the big screen in Centenary Square, Bradford Council has confirmed.

Instead, the council has encouraged residents to go support their "local hospitality establishments" across the district who will be screening the games.

Will there be Euro 2024 Fanzones elsewhere?

It comes as cities like Leeds are once again using their city centre squares to create a Fanzone for the tournament.

Fans will be able to visit Millennium Square and watch England on a high-definition, giant LED screen throughout the Euros.

The last time England games were screened in Centenary Square

The last time England football matches were shown on the big screen in Bradford was way back in 2006.

All three group stage matches of the World Cup that year were broadcast in Centenary Square.

Around those three games, six arrests were made and a large clean-up operation was needed after each event.

Those two fixtures were shown on temporary screens at Bradford Bulls' Odsal Stadium.

Full Bradford Council comment

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “As per previous tournaments no football matches from the UEFA Euro 2024 will be shown on the big screen in the city centre.

"We would encourage people to continue to support their local hospitality establishments in the city and town centres of the district, many of which will be screening the matches.

"Sporting events like this are an opportunity for them to boost their trade.”
