A NEW recruit has joined the ranks of West Yorkshire Police.
A new Police Horse is proving popular with officers in the Mounted Section of the force.
Five-year-old Edward, who measures in at 17 hands high, is the latest police recruit.
West Yorkshire Police said: "Who’s a handsome boy? Meet new recruit, Police Horse (PH) Edward.
"Coming in strong at 17 hands at only 5 years old, he’s a big lad… and a total softie.
"He loves to play, is a little bit cheeky and is described by our Mounted Section colleagues as a happy chappy who is loved by everyone on the yard.
"Welcome to the family, Edward. We know you’ll do a sterling job."
