TRIBUTES have been paid to a "fun, beautiful, bright and popular" youngster from Bradford after she suddenly died.

Ruby Morris, who lived on the Thorpe Edge estate, sadly passed away at the age of nine on May 21.

Her aunt, Louise O'Neill, told the Telegraph & Argus that Ruby had been rushed into hospital a few days before and placed on life support.

It had become apparent that Ruby had diabetes and tragically she never regained consciousness, Louise added.

She said Ruby's family had been left "shattered and truly heartbroken at her sudden loss".

Louise has now set up a GoFundMe page to help give Ruby the "best send off".

Louise told the T&A: "Ruby was a fun, beautiful, bright and popular little red-haired girl often referred to as 'Ruby Red'.

"She lived with her dad Ian and her sister Summer and younger brother Alex.

"Ruby attended Parkland Primary School.

"She loved playing out with her friends and spending time with her siblings.

"While we were waiting and hoping for Ruby to regain consciousness, some family and friends decided to turn Facebook purple.

"This was Ruby's favourite colour.

"We shared purple hearts and we changed our profile pictures in honour of Ruby.

"Ruby loved the character Stitch from Disney's Lilo and Stitch.

"As you can imagine the family has been left shattered and truly heartbroken at the sudden loss of Ruby."

Louise said she set up the GoFundMe page to help with costs towards Ruby's funeral, which will take place at St John's Church, Thorpe Edge, at 10.30am on June 17.

The funeral procession will leave Ruby's family home at 10am, with a horse-drawn carriage to the church. People will be walking behind on foot.

Ruby's burial will take place at Westfield Lane, Idle, and her wake will then be held at Idle Cricket Club.

Louise said: "We have had such an overwhelming response already to the GoFundMe page, having raised more than £1,400.

"The Thorpe Edge community has really come together to support young Ruby's family.

"Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

"Your generosity is helping us cover the funeral costs for our beloved Ruby.

"We are incredibly grateful for your support during this heart-breaking time."

People who would like to donate to Louise's GoFundMe page can do so by visiting https://shorturl.at/aCMYh

The page states: "Please donate no matter how big or small.

"Help this beautiful little girl have the best send off."
