AN EXCITING new pub event which has proven to be a great success is coming to Bradford soon.

Postcode Pool is a new venture aimed at finding the best local players in each area.

For its first event in a series, the competition pitted 30 amateur players up against each other at Yeadon's Midway Pub in LS19.

Tournaments are currently being planned for LS21 and BD10, with further areas being added regularly.

The event was a mixture of head-to-head games and skill challenges, with the top eight players qualifying for the knockout stages.

The belt that was up for grabsThe belt that was up for grabs (Image: UGC) Quarter finals followed, played as the best of three frames, and the top four players reconvened a week later for the semi-finals (best-of-five) and the final (best-of-19).

The final was contested by Pete Watson and Simon Lock, with the former emerging victorious 10-5.

The top three players received cash prizes and medals.

The next tournament is being held in LS20 at the Red Lion in Guiseley on Wednesday, June 26.
