I HAVE never been a huge lover of donner meat but with Oastler Market soon shutting and this 'hidden gem' moving shortly, I felt it was worth giving it a go.
Kebab Corner has been a permanent fixture in the old market since 1993.
The Bradford Markets website reads: "Serving unique Donner meat, masala fish and shami burgers, along with traditional fish & chips, wraps and burgers.
"According to our customers, the best part of a donner meat & chips is the last bit of onion swimming in the sauce at the bottom of the tray!
"Consistency in quality and value since 1993."
It prides itself on being '#Bradford'sBestKeptSecret - a claim supported by YouTubers Danny Malin, of RateMyTakeaway, and Heyman Food Reviews.
Therefore, it was only right that the Telegraph & Argus put that theory to the test before the shop jumps across the road later this year.
As you make your way into Oastler, via the Rawson Road entrance, it is tricky to miss the much-loved eatery.
This seemed to be the case for many as the tables and chairs were full of hungry customers.
Pondering what to select, I opted for the 'best seller' regular donner meat and chips with a drink for a very reasonable fiver.
The sauce-soaked donner certainly lived up to expectations.
And the touch of salad provided a nice blend for my eager tastebuds.
I was not a huge fan of the chips, which were slightly too hard for my liking.
But overall, I was very satisfied with this Friday lunchtime treat.
The only disappointing factor was the trip to the cash machine post-meal.
Workers generously said I could complete the visit once my stomach was full but nevertheless a card machine on-site would have been far more convenient.
The Oastler Shopping Centre is set to be demolished, once the new Darley Street Market opens its doors later this year.
Kebab Corner won't be one of the many moving across so it has decided to act early and will be active on 20 John Street in August/September time.
