ONE driver was clocked at travelling at 71mph in a 40mph zone in a speed check police carried out this week.
Officers from the Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out the speed checks across the Outer North West area of Leeds.
On Otley Road in Adel tickets were issued to three drivers travelling at 48mph, 53mph, and 55mph in a 40mph; and one driver was issued a court summons after being sighted going 71mph in a 40mph zone.
On Victoria Avenue in Yeadon, two tickets were issued to drivers travelling at 55mph and 60mph in a 40mph zone.
In response to concerns raised by the local community, officers from Keighley NPT also carried out a number of speed checks over the last week.
The checks took place on Silsden Road heading towards Addingham - which has a 30mph speed limit.
Three motorists were found to be exceeding that mark.
Two, who were travelling at 44 mph and 46 mph respectively, were issued with tickets.
The third was travelling at 50mph and has been issued a summons to court.
