CUSTOMERS keep coming back for more "sweet, golden brown" chips at a Bradford chippy.
West End Fisheries in Queensbury is one of 10 fish and chip shops locally hoping to win the T&A's Best Chippy 2024 competition.
The T&A received 2,237 nominations for the contest through our online voting platform, and we are currently in the process of profiling the finalists in print and online.
Matt Dawson is manager and fryer at West End Fisheries - and he told of his delight at the business being in the running for the award.
He said the fish and chip shop is a big part of the local community and, with customers' help, it has raised more than £3,000 for various charities and good causes.
And he told how his chippy has not needed to change its menu in four decades - proving customers throughout the generations simply love what they get from there.
Matt told the Telegraph & Argus: "My parents took over West End Fisheries around 40 years ago and I have been frying here since 2002.
"We are a small run business - I'm the only fryer since my dad retired but I have three part-time shop assistants.
"We're really pleased to make it into the final 10 in the T&A's Best Chippy 2024 competition.
"It is nice to have recognition and it's a pleasure to provide our customers with meals they enjoy.
"The community we serve is very important to us.
"Our customers are wonderful and have helped us raise more than £3,000 for Marie Curie, the Turkey earthquake appeal, and various other different charities.
"Our menu and recipes haven't changed in the 40 we have run West End - and our customers love our sweet, golden brown chips," he added.
