A KEIGHLEY brewery is giving its backing to well-known running events which traverse the Bronte moorland.
Timothy Taylor's has announced a sponsorship deal for both the famous Haworth Hobble, and Yorkshireman fell races.
The package will mean beer-related goodies for finishers, and the prospect of brewery tours and pub stays as competition prizes.
Founded as a long-distance walking event in 1980, the Haworth Hobble quickly evolved into a fell run, which now covers a 32-mile route with around 5,500ft of ascent. Many of the UK's leading fell runners have competed over the years.
The Yorkshireman off-road marathon and half-marathon, founded 31 years ago, also takes in the Bronte Country uplands. It sells out each year, and only a few places remain for the latest event, in September.
Both ventures are organised by Keighley & Craven Athletic Club.
Scott Cameron, senior brand manager at Timothy Taylor’s, says: "We have a long history of supporting sports organisations in our community, from the Craven Cricket League to football and rugby teams.
"When we were approached about the Haworth Hobble and Yorkshireman, how could we say no? They are fantastic races which embody the true uncompromising nature of the Yorkshire spirit, something we are both proud to share.
"We hope all the competitors are excited about the collaboration, and rest assured that The Fleece Inn in Haworth – a supporter of the races for many years – will be ready and waiting for post-race refreshments!"
Gary Chapman, for Keighley & Craven Athletic Club, says: "The races start outside the famous Fleece Inn and it would be fair to say that a few hard-earned pints of Landlord back at the Fleece are high on the agenda for many fell runners straight after the race!
"It seemed like the perfect match to team up with Timothy Taylor’s, as we are both proud to represent the very best of our local area to a far wider audience."
The club welcomes new members, both newcomers to running and those with more experience.
Training nights are held at University Academy Keighley on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Anyone interested is invited to go along for 6.20pm.
The club includes a successful junior section, for eight-to-18-year-olds.
Gary adds: "They compete at local, regional and national level, but the emphasis is very much on fun.
"There is a great team spirit."
