THREE Bradford women have been recognised in the first British Asian Women's Awards 2024.
The winners were announced at an elegant ceremony held at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Birmingham on Saturday.
Naz Shah, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Bradford West, won the Achievements in Politics award; Sahar Ijaz, of the Together We Are Bradford group, took the Young Achiever of the Year title; while Saliha Sadiq, of the Millan community centre for women and girls in Bradford, was highly commended in the Leading Lights of the Year category.
A spokesperson for the British Asian Women's Awards 2024 said: "We are proud to showcase the strength of the women of the British Asian community.
"These women are not only making great strides in their respective fields but are serving as inspiration for future generations.
"We want to congratulate all of our winners and highly commended recipients on their accomplishments."
The spokesperson added: "As generational changes occur, we are seeing an increase of Asian women excelling in business and professional sectors.
"It is imperative to credit the efforts of women pushing boundaries and breaking barriers to show the world that women of colour can not only lead families but also lead empires."
