A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a woman suffered serious injuries in a crash in Bradford in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene just after midnight at the junction of Great Horton Road and Gathorne Street in Great Horton. 

Two vehicles crashed and a woman was trapped and had to be freed by the fire service.

The woman suffered serious injuries and a man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving over the prescribed limit.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 12.05am this morning (June 4) police were called to Great Horton Road to reports of two vehicles in collision.

"A woman has been taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

"A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision with one person trapped.

"One casualty with head injuries was extricated by the fire service and transported to hospital by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

"Two casualties were out of the vehicle upon fire service arrival.

"Crews made the scene safe."
