A PERSON was injured in a two-car crash on a busy road in Bradford city centre this morning.

The crash happened in rush hour in the southbound lane of Shipley Airedale Road, partially blocking the road and causing heavy traffic in the area.

One person sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 7.39am on Monday morning to report a collision between two cars at the junction of Leeds Road and Airedale Road, Bradford. 

"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Bradford Royal Infirmary."

One traffic alert this morning reported: "The A650 Shipley Airedale Road southbound is partially blocked and there is queueing traffic due to accident from A658 Barkerend Road to Leeds Road.

"Congestion to back past Frizinghall Train Station and routes towards the city centre.

The traffic alert also confirmed the incident happened on the approach to the junction.

The most recent traffic alert reported that the crash scene had been cleared.
