The cause of a fire at a building in the Fairweather Green area of Bradford has been revealed.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) was called to the building, which houses business units, on Thornton Road, between Bellshaw Street and Jesse Street, at around 4.40pm on Tuesday, May 21.
There was a large presence from the emergency services and the busy road was partially blocked while firefighters from Fairweather Green, Shipley, Bradford, and Odsal stations worked at the scene.
WYFRS said 10 per cent of the building was involved in the fire.
In an update, the fire service said: "Repairs were being carried out to the flooring in the building which was rotten.
“The occupiers had replaced the toilet floor with steel plate.”
The spokesperson said sparks from either a welder or grinder caused the old flooring under the new floor to catch fire.
