Drivers faced long traffic queues along part of the M62 on Wednesday morning.
There was disruption due to a broken down vehicle at Junction 26 M606 J1(Chain Bar).
The entry slip road was closed, according to traffic reports, but the route has now fully reopened.
Traffic congestion was reported around the busy Chain Bar Roundabout and A58 Whitehall Road area.
The delays come at the same time as ongoing roadworks within the area.
The 22-week work at Chain Bar roundabout includes adding a lane to the carriageway - increasing the existing carriageway from two lanes to three - as well as creating a crossing area for pedestrians and the installation of new street lighting.
Traffic monitoring system INRIX said: "Entry slip road closed and queueing traffic due to broken down vehicle. Congestion to around Chain Bar Roundabout, A58 Whitehall."
The delays have since cleared.
