A 10-year-old dancer from Bradford was described as a “diamond that needs to be polished” as he took on the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Trey Braine, who idolises dance troupe and former Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity, flipped and breakdanced his way to the latest stage of the competition.

This week, he was one of 40 finalists vying for a place in the quarter-final against the likes of a rock air guitarist, roller-skating performers, dancing dogs, singers, and a nine-year-old magician.

Trey took on his latest challenge with an epic street dance routine to a soundtrack of Flume, Stormzy, and Galantis.

Describing how he felt after his act, Trey said: “I feel great and just to be on the stage, semi-finals, it’s crazy.”

First in line, judge, singer and rapper Alesha Dixon said: “I feel so proud of you. I feel like you were living in your own dream.”

One of TV’s most honest judges, Simon Cowell, said: “I used you as an example recently of somebody I believe has got star quality. When you’ve got it you’ve got it. You’re just naturally cool, naturally stylish. There’s something about you. I really believe great things are going to happen in your life, in your career.”

Bruno Tonioli added: “Reach high and aim for the stars because you do have a natural talent. You’re a diamond that needs to be polished. All talent needs to be nurtured, developed.”

But the fate of Trey and his fellow Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists was in the hands of the public.

Hosts Ant and Dec revealed the names of those who would be going home or to the next stage of the competition in no particular order.

The young dancer was then told he would be heading home as a red light cast over him from above.

The news was met with shock from the audience.

It has been a beautiful journey for the aspiring dancer who got to meet his heroes, Diversity, at St George’s Hall.

Trey thought he was being invited to see dance troupe and former Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity perform in Bradford.

Behind the stage, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were waiting to surprise the dancer to reveal one of his big dreams was going to come true.

He was invited to audition for Britain's Got Talent.

Trey danced his way to four yeses with an audition to All I Do Is Win by DJ Khaled.

Trey also takes part in modelling when he is not at school.
