A yellow weather warning will come into place across the Bradford district this afternoon.
The Met Office has warned of thunderstorms and torrential downpours from 2pm to 7pm on Tuesday, May 28.
The UK weather agency’s alert covers the entirety of West Yorkshire as well as parts of North and South Yorkshire.
There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
What does a yellow weather warning mean?
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms means spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
As part of the travel disruption there is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads.
Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
There is also a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
Fast-flowing or deep floodwater can also cause danger to life, the Met Office said.
