A LARGE police scene was in place on a major Bradford road following reports of an early-hours assault.

West Yorkshire Police was called to Haworth Road, which runs between Heaton and Sandy Lane, at around 1.18am on Tuesday.

West Yorkshire Police attended the scene but said the victim, a 28-year-old man, had left the area.

He later presented himself in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries to his hand, the force added.

A scene was in place for most of Tuesday - with a cordon blocking entry to a section of Haworth Road both ways, from Thorn Lane to Thorn Drive.

Several drivers were caught unaware by the cordon and had to make u-turns and divert.

Diversions were also in place for First's 620 and 680 bus services, via Lynfield Drive and Heights Lane.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Forensic investigators arrived at the scene in Crime Scene Investigation vans by mid-morning.

A car within the cordon was forensically examined by one of the officers and evidence markers could be seen on the ground.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:
