THE Broadway has revealed what will be filling the old HMV unit in the shopping centre.
The music and entertainment retailer shut its branch in the Bradford shopping centre on April 28, but its new store will open next to H&M in The Broadway in mid-June.
Its old unit, opposite the former Debenhams which is currently being transformed into Primark and is due to open in autumn, will be filled by the lifestyle brand Sapphire.
The Broadway has teased "more exciting retailer news" which is set to be revealed "over the next few weeks".
Pakistani brand Sapphire, renowned for its premium quality fabrics and on-trend designs, is set to open its first UK store in The Broadway in the second half of 2024.
The grand opening is expected to be an "exciting first look at the beautifully designed space, which mirrors the chic, modern aesthetic of Sapphire's collections".
“Launching our first store in the UK at The Broadway is a proud moment for us," said Imran Choudhery, international chief operating officer of Sapphire.
“We are excited to bring our unique blend of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary style to the UK audience, and Bradford’s vibrant community is the perfect place to start.”
Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said: “We are very pleased to be welcoming Sapphire into The Broadway – another major addition to our line-up.
"They’re moving into the old HMV unit as HMV are moving into a larger unit within the centre.
“We’re so proud to be the first location for Sapphire here in the UK and we know our shoppers will love the wide choice of fashion choices.”
It has been a spring of change at The Broadway with major retailers Marks & Spencer and Lids closing down.
The former shut its doors this past Saturday (May 18) which was met with great sadness.
The M&S had been in the shopping centre since it opened in 2015.
Before that, it had been on Bradford's Darley Street for many years.
The business said "shopping habits are changing" and it wanted to make sure "we have the right stores in the right place and with the right space".
It added that it would continue to serve customers at Marks & Spencer branches at Bradford Royal Infirmary, Bingley, and Ilkley - all Simply Food outlets - as well as Owlcotes at Pudsey, and online.
