SEVERAL properties were affected by flash-flooding yesterday (Wednesday) night in Skipton following heavy rain throughout the day.
Fire crews from Skipton and Grassington were called out at around 9.30pm to the Greatwood Estate area of the town, and help and support has been given by North Yorkshire Council.
Paul Thompson, the council's assistant director for environment, said: “We have been working with the emergency services last night and into this morning dealing with the impacts of heavy rain.
“This morning we were alerted to flooding at some properties in the Skipton area. We are supporting affected residents by providing temporary shelter until alternative accommodation is secured."
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Various areas of Skipton affected by flooding.
"Both Skipton crews along with crew from Grassington attended, unblocked drains, pumped floodwater and gave advice to residents and business owners."
