May is the season of blossom, when trees and hedgerows are coated with white or pink flowers.
Most entrancing are fruits trees such as apple, cherry and pear, which are as pretty as a picture. Along roadsides, blackthorn forms a stunning border to fields.
Looking through the Telegraph & Argus archives for an image that captures the joy of blossom, we came across this picture, which shows Andrew Kitts and Stephanie French, prior to their marriage in May 2013.
The couple planned to tie the knot at St Peter’s Church in Addingham, but prior to the ceremony, they held a fun fell race.
They invited other runners to take part and enlisted the help of volunteers to marshall the event or just to stand along the route and cheer people on.
The fancy dress fell race began outside St Peter’s Church, and finished at the local landmark Beamsley Beacon.
It’s such an uplifting image – we are sure readers will agree.
