Born in Keighley, Marian has lived in the Bradford area all her life and moved into the care home, on Leylands Lane, last summer.

Before and during the Second World War, she was employed as a bank clerk for Barclays.

Marian also worked as a bookkeeper for the family business.

She was married to the late Kenneth for around 50 years, and together they had two children, Malcolm and Philip.

Marian also has seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Over the years, she loved singing and music and played the piano for her local church.

Giving the secret to a long and happy life, Marian said: "Clean living and just getting on with things."

One of her sons, Malcolm, praised his mother.

He said: "She's amazing and such an important part of the family.

"We all wish her a very happy 100th birthday.

"There were plenty of people at her party.

"It was nice for us all to be there to celebrate my mum and her very special day."
