AN update has been issued over the closure of a Bradford railway station entrance.

The shutters remain down on the walkway leading to and from Bradford Forster Square station.

When the T&A visited on Friday afternoon, signs saying "due to safety concerns, these stairs are closed off until further notice" remained.

The company added that the station team may need to close the passage "at short notice during bad weather".

Network Rail has been fixing "ongoing issues with water leaks impacting the lift and Manor Row entrance doors".

The leak in the lift shaft has been fixed but workers have since found that "part of the roof is letting water in near the entrance when it rains".

Extra repairs by the railway company will be carried out as soon as it can do them.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We're sorry for the inconvenience to passengers at Bradford Forster Square station while our building teams fix ongoing issues with water leaks impacting the lift and Manor Row entrance doors.

"While we've now fixed the leak in the lift shaft, unfortunately, we've since found that part of the roof is letting water in near the entrance when it rains.

"We're aiming to carry out the extra repairs as soon as we can.

"In the meantime, we are working closely with station operator Northern to get the entrance in use as much as possible, but the station team may need to close it at short notice during bad weather.”
