A PERSON climbed a lamp post in a failed attempt to break into a Bradford home, police have said.
The attempted burglary took place at a property along Great Horton Road on Monday, May 6.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "On May 6 a person climbed a lamp post outside a property on Great Horton Road in BD7 and reached into the property through an open window.
"This disturbed the home owner who went to see what was going on and witnessed the suspect trying to climb through his window.
"The suspect then stopped and made off back down the lamp post and drove away in a vehicle."
Some tips by West Yorkshire Police to help prevent burglary include:
- Make sure you have adequate levels of physical security on doors and windows and that doors and windows are in good condition.
- Don't leave items such as car keys, money, jewellery, mobile phones or laptops on view.
- If you have large amounts of jewellery in your home, consider fitting a domestic safe, utilising deposit boxes at banks if available and marking your items with a DNA solution.
- Using timer switches to illuminate your home when it is left unoccupied.
