POLICE were called as a road crumbled in Bradford amid a severe thunderstorm yesterday.
Officers attended Ravenscliffe Avenue after a huge hole appeared in the residential street.
Resident Howard Rae told the Telegraph & Argus storm water "blew a hole" in the road, resulting in it being closed.
The dramatic storm brought heavy downpours which caused flash flooding across the city yesterday afternoon.
Bradford Council last night said it was "dealing with a number of flooding incidents in the city centre and other local areas", and added that some road closures and diversions were in place.
The flash flooding was so severe that the M606 was blocked to traffic and people parked in The Broadway shopping centre were temporarily unable to enter or exit the car park.
Last night, a spokesperson for The Broadway said: "The police, National Highways and Yorkshire Water have closed Hall Ings until further notice.
"This may impact the ability to use the car park tomorrow.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
According to travel monitoring site Inrix this morning, Hall Ings remains shut both ways from Chapel Street to Drake Street.
