THE police helicopter was called into action by officers in the Pudsey area on Wednesday.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS)' Carr Gate received a call for assistance at 10.30am on May 1.
Officers on the ground had received a report of a man "carrying a machete and behaving in a threatening manner".
The incident took place in the Mount Pleasant Road area of Pudsey.
The police helicopter was deployed to the Pudsey area to support West Yorkshire Police in a suspect search.
The total flying time was 54 minutes.
Residents in the area described hearing the police helicopter above the Roker Lane and Fulneck area of the town.
No one was injured.
The man was arrested and remains in police custody at this time.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Armed officers arrested a man this morning from an address on Mount Pleasant Road, Pudsey after police received a call reporting a man had been carrying a machete and behaving in a threatening manner.
"No one was injured and the man remains in police custody at this time."
