A new WhatsApp group run by fully qualified NHS workers from Bradford is helping people with diabetes care.
The group encourages people who have diabetes or are at risk of developing diabetes to take control of their health.
It is open to everyone - no matter their age, background, or gender.
It started out as an idea from a conversation between Tahira Amin and Sughra Nazir.
The diverse team of experts - made of three dietitians, a doctor, a nurse, and a pharmacist - offer direct support.
Dietitians Tahira, Mike Sweeney, and Nusrat Kauser have a wealth of knowledge in diabetes management and nutrition.
Nurse Andrew Markin and pharmacist Shoaib Ahmed are able to offer specialised insights into diabetes care, ensuring advice is holistic and evidence-based.
Meanwhile doctor Sohail Ahmed is also on hand to provide support.
The two non-clinical ambassadors Kashif Ahmed and Sughra serve as a voice guiding the group on how to get the best experience out of the group.
The WhatsApp group has already attracted members from various cities in England and some across the globe.
It is hoped to help people adapt to a low carbohydrate lifestyle to manage their diabetes effectively.
Tahira said there has been a positive impact on people’s behaviours, including improvements in blood sugar levels, weight management, and overall wellbeing.
