RESIDENTS have spoken out about "scary" scenes involving an incident where shots were fired by armed individuals on a Bradford street yesterday.
Police were called to Stratton View in the Tyersal area of Bradford to incident in the early hours of the morning on Thursday. One local resident described it as 'warring gangs'.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to Stratton View, Bradford, at 2:25am yesterday (Thursday, April 25) to a report of an ongoing incident involving individuals in vehicles.
"Officers attended at the scene and found two unoccupied vehicles, a Honda and a Shogun, with collision damage.
"Following further enquiries, damage was also found to the door of a property on Farway which was consistent with a firearms discharge. It was confirmed that those in the address were unharmed, and they are being appropriately safeguarded."
When the T&A visited the street today, a local resident told us: “We were asleep. We heard some banging and cars racing down the street.
“There were some loud noises, but I don’t know what it was. It was scary.
“We heard screeching of vehicle tyres, but didn’t see anything,” said another resident. “We just keep ourselves to ourselves.”
One resident also said: “I heard screeching of car tyres and what sounded like a gunshot. There were a number of them.
“I also arguing, shouting and swearing.
“I’ve had barely any sleep to be fair. I couldn’t sleep after hearing all that noise.
“The police were here all day yesterday.
“On the night prior to that, there were two vehicles up and down the road like yo-yos.
“This kind stuff is on and off all of the time. I think it could be rival gangs.
“It just might be good to move out of Bradford and go somewhere quiet.”
The police spokesperson added: "This investigation is in its early stages and extensive enquiries are ongoing by specialist investigators to understand the circumstances of what has taken place."
"If anyone witnessed any part of this incident or has any information about those involved, they are asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting crime reference number 13240219911."
