A CAR repair hub will help boost a Bradford supermarket “in a rapidly changing retail environment.”
Last month, a planning application was submitted to install a Direct Line “pod” in the car park of the Thornbury branch of Morrisons.
The hub would be installed at the North side of the supermarket’s large car park, and provide small scale car repairs.
The application said the site would offer repairs to vehicles that “have no structural damage and do not require to be taken off the road into a traditional body shop.”
Repairs would take on average a few hours, and drivers would be offered a courtesy car while repairs take place.
The application has now been approved by planning officers at Bradford Council.
Officers said: “The proposed use will facilitate the vitality and viability of the centre by promoting the growth and diversity of the retail supermarket chain in a rapid changing retail environment.
“The positioning of the modular building will result in the loss of 19 car parking spaces. The loss of these parking spaces in an underutilised section of the existing car park is not considered to affect the car parks operation and functionality.”
