THE family of a much-loved man has paid tribute to him following his sudden death.
The Heckmondwike community was shocked to discover boxer-turned-trainer Jordan Schofield, 42, died last week.
Jordan helped kids of all ages at his Iron Arms Boxing & Fitness Gym, on Church Street, for over 15 years.
A fundraising page to aid funeral costs has already hit over £12,000.
Family member Jade Cressey, who set up the page, was keen to pay tribute to Jordan and all the good work he did.
She said: "He ran it (the gym) for kids that were getting bullied or didn't fit in to try to build confidence and look after each other.
"They all made friends there. Our son went there. They just loved it. He used to do boxing shows for them.
"Everyone really valued what he did for the kids and community. He kept them off the street and out of trouble.
"He never asked for anything it return. It was never about money. The gym was open to anyone any time of day.
"He was there to talk to them and was a listening ear if they had any problems."
Jordan was well-loved in the community after living in Heckmondwike for all his life.
"It has affected a lot of people," Jade added.
"He impacted so many lives, the whole town is going to be shut down for the day (of his funeral). There are going to be so many mourning people.
"We set up the GoFundMe page and so many people have been coming up to me saying they wanted to be a part of his final journey. We want to give him the best send-off we can.
"It gives you a sense of hope that the community does come together. Tragically it is in times like this to know everyone is there for you if you ever wanted to talk.
"I just hope he knows how much he was loved."
The gym will be letting balloons off in memory of Jordan on Dale Lane field at 7pm. Everybody is welcome.
The GoFundMe page adds: "Jordan was a huge part of our lives and a massive inspiration to our children.
"He was so selfless and always there for anyone who needed him.
"His presence lit up any room and played a big part in our community.
"Let’s all come together to help him on his final journey to eternal peace."
