POLICE suspect horses had their hair tails cut and removed for a "rocking horse".
West Yorkshire Police's Wildlife & Rural Crime Team posted its crime report for the week ending April 7 on its Facebook page yesterday.
One of the crimes was a theft in the Mirfield area.
A spokesperson for the team said two horses had their hair tails snipped and removed, "possibly for a rocking horse".
Meanwhile, 1,000 litres of diesel was stolen from motor vehicles in two separate crimes.
One was in Birstall (500 litres) and the other was in Knottingley (500 litres).
There were several quad bikes stolen across the week, including a grey and blue Yamaha 700 Raptor from Holme Wood, a Suzuki which was taken in a business burglary in Netherton and is likely to have damaged locks, and a Dinli quad from Sowerby Bridge.
Officers are also appealing for information in relation to items being stolen from a vehicle in Headingley, which included an electric tester, SDS drill, and circular saw, and a red Yanmar three ton dumper truck that was taken in Ledsham.
