A CAR left abandoned outside a property was stolen from Sheffield, police discovered.
West Yorkshire Police was notified of the vehicle following a report from a resident in Liversedge.
Once checked, it was found that the white car was on false plates and had been stolen from the other side of Yorkshire.
A post on the West Yorkshire Police - Batley and Spen Facebook page said: "On April 3, Batley & Spen NPT Officers were called to the Liversedge area due to information being received by local residents that a vehicle has been left outside their property.
"Officers checked the vehicle and it was found to be on false plates and had been stolen from Sheffield.
"Neighbourhood officers rely on vital intelligence from local residents to tackle vehicle crime and in this case, it resulted in a vehicle being returned to its rightful owner.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
