A GP surgery will get over £400,000 of developers’ cash to help it expand.
Bradford Council bosses are expected to approved the funding for an extension to Grange Road GP Surgery in Burley In Wharfedale when the Executive meets early next month.
The cash comes from Community Infrastructure Levy funding – money developers are required to provide to improve facilities in the District.
The surgery requested funding for an extension to help meet increased demand. Last year members of the Executive agreed to confirm an allocation of CIL of £400,000 to help the surgery meet the increased demand from new developments in the area.
The first phase of CIL payments from the residential development at Sun Lane and Ilkley Road have been received so the funding can now be formally allocated.
Currently the practice has a patient population of 6,900 compared to 4,500 when it first opened in 1984.
Additional demand on services at the facility from the Sun Lane housing development of over 470 homes means that an extension to their premises is required to meet the additional demand.
The meeting takes place on Tuesday April 9.
