YORKSHIRE'S biggest royal fan has spoken of her shock after Kate Middleton revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer.
The Princess of Wales announced her diagnosis via an emotional video put out on social media.
Judith Watkinson, of Yeadon, has been a fan of the monarchy her entire life.
She called the Princess the "greatest asset the Royal Family has got" in a shocked reaction.
Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus, Judith said: “It is just terrible news. My thoughts go out to the Royal Family.
“I just hope she is left alone now to give her time to recover.
“She is the greatest asset the Royal Family has got.
“I really hope she gets better. She sounds positive (in the video clip).
“We need to think positively. She will recover.
“I can’t wait to see her back doing her job.”
Princess undergoing chemotherapy
Revealing her diagnosis in an emotional video message, the Princess said: “I am well and getting stronger every day.”
She added: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous.
“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
"My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.”
The 42-year-old Princess has been largely absent from the public eye since being admitted to the London Clinic in January for abdominal surgery.
Kate Middleton's visit to Bradford
She last visited Bradford with her husband Prince William in January 2020.
The Royal couple stopped at Bradford's City Hall, the Khidmat Centre and My Lahore restaurant during the few hours they spent in the city.
Thousands of well-wishers lined the streets of the three venues they visited, eager to get a glimpse of the pair.
