FOOTAGE has captured the moment a huge stream of water blasted into the air in Bradford city centre.
A video taken by a passer-by shows the water shooting upwards from roadworks near The Broadway shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.
The street, between Broadway and Little Germany, is currently being changed from a pedestrian space to a new bus route.
The stream of water was caused by a hydrant issue that lasted for almost an hour.
Contractor Balfour Beatty apologised for any inconvenience caused.
A Balfour Beatty spokesperson said: “Whilst undertaking works on Well Street in Bradford City Centre, a small component part failed within a hydrant during the authorised extraction of water from a closed pressurised water pipe, resulting in a release of water onto the street.
"Working with Yorkshire Water, the leak was swiftly stopped.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson added: "This occurred within the construction site near The Broadway.
"Our teams attended quickly and completed a repair."
