THREE men from Bradford and Hull have been arrested after a police helicopter and stinger stopped a van suspected to have been stolen during a burglary.
Inside the van, officers found a machete, hammers, an angle grinder, and a large amount of cash which was seized.
Police spotted the vehicle - believed to have been taken in a two-in-one burglary - on the outskirts of York in the early hours of Wednesday (March 20).
The vehicle failed to stop, according to police - leading to the use of an NPAS police helicopter and ‘stinger’ – a device thrown across the road to puncture a vehicle’s tyres.
The occupants made off from the van and police searched the area.
The men, aged 18 to 24, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of multiple offences including burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.
Enquiries are ongoing.
