A BRADFORD school has issued a statement after its lockdown procedure was used.
There was a police presence at Ley Top Primary School, on Avenel Road in Allerton, on Wednesday and officers were at the school earlier today to provide reassurance.
While the reason has not been confirmed, school officials told the T&A that the "safety of children and staff" was its "top priority" and they "followed a lockdown procedure as a precaution".
Acting headteacher Phillippa Firth said: “The safety of our children and staff is always our top priority. There was never any direct threat to the school or pupils but we followed our lockdown procedure as a precaution.
“We were well supported by the police throughout and they have been on site this morning to provide reassurance to families.”
The T&A has contacted West Yorkshire Police for a comment.
