A FISH and chip shop owner has spoken of his delight at his business being named one of the UK's 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways.
The Bearded Sailor on Robin Lane in Pudsey appears on the trade publication Fry Magazine's list, which is now in its 12th year.
It follows two rounds of mystery dining visits where judges meticulously inspected aspects including food quality, premises cleanliness, and value for money.
The Bearded Sailor scored an impressive 96 per cent.
Judges said: “This shop really does lead the way for fish and chip shops in the area.
"Very good quality, transparent on where the ingredients are from, and forward-thinking on offering a host of other food options. Also, the staff are superb."
Alex Papaioannou, owner of The Bearded Sailor, said: “It is an honour to be named amongst these amazing shops from around the UK for the second year running.
"We are over the moon to have been nationally recognised.
"There are no secrets it is all down to sourcing the best possible ingredients while having an amazing team who consistently cook the food to perfection while giving the best customer service”
Reece Head, competition organiser, added: “It is with great pleasure that we congratulate The Bearded Sailor on being one of the UK’s 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways."
