A SECTION of the M62 is shut after a serious crash in the early hours of this morning.
The M62 is closed eastbound between junction 28, for Leeds, and junction 29, for Wakefield, due to the serious collision, National Highways said.
The incident was first reported shortly after 4am and the road is expected to remain shut for "several hours" to allow collision investigation work to take place.
Diversions are in place.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "Emergency services, including West Yorkshire Police, are on scene.
"National Highways traffic officers are also in attendance to assist with traffic management.
"Collision investigations are being carried out and the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
"If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.
"Plan ahead - you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
The Telegraph & Argus has approached West Yorkshire Police for further information.
