PEOPLE have reacted with shock after a man died in hospital following a horrific crash on a Bradford road last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a three-car crash on Bolton Road just before 9pm.

One man, aged in his 20s, died in hospital from injuries he suffered in the crash. Three other people were taken to hospital and one man was arrested.

Cllr Simon Cunningham, ward councillor for Bolton and Undercliffe, and his colleagues, Cllr Suhail Choudhry and Cllr Julie Humphreys, have been speaking with “shocked” local residents this morning.

Cllr Cunningham said: “We are extremely shocked and saddened that a young man has lost his life in what has clearly been a very distressing incident.

“It’s very important that anyone with any information or dashcam or other footage shares this with local police to assist their investigation by calling 101.

“Myself and the other ward councillors, Julie and Suhail, have been speaking to local residents on Bolton Road and nearby streets who are understandably very shocked about what’s happened.

“Our thoughts are with the young man’s family and all those who have been affected.”

One man, who was travelling on Bolton Road last night and came upon the scene, told the T&A: “I was travelling towards Otley Road and was about ten seconds behind when it happened.

“People were running out of their houses and within minutes, the police, fire service and ambulance service were at the scene.

“I could see that people had suffered serious injuries.

“It’s not nice.”

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Bradford last night which resulted in a driver suffering fatal injuries.

"The collision happened on Bolton Road, close to the junction with Boars Well Drive, at 8.50pm last night and involved three vehicles – a black Skoda Fabia travelling in the direction of Shipley Airedale Road, a silver VW Golf travelling towards Queens Road and a Seat Leon Cupra also travelling in the direction of Shipley Airedale Road.

"The Fabia was involved in a head-on collision with the Golf causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

"The driver of the Fabia, a male aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he later died in the early hours of this morning.

"Two male passengers in the Fabia were also taken to hospital with serious injuries while a further male passenger was also taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be serious.

"The driver of the Golf was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The male driver of the Seat has been arrested in connection with the collision and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.
