A MAN was caught using an e-scooter to take a child to school, police said.
West Yorkshire Police officers attended Co-op Academy Smithies Moor on Leeds Old Road in Heckmondwike on Friday (March 1).
They engaged with staff and parents and checked the area for parking issues.
Two motorists were also dealt with for parking on zig-zag lines outside the school.
PCSO Dyson said: “Parking at school times can be difficult with lots of vehicles trying to park up at the same time, however, the safety of children is paramount, and it is therefore imperative that all motorists park legally and considerately for all.
“Parking on the zig-zag lines is extremely dangerous and even if you are late dropping off a child, the danger to pedestrians cannot be underestimated.”
A spokesperson for the force added: "Officers from Batley and Spen NPT attended The Co-op Academy, Smithies Moor on Friday, March 1 to engage with staff and parents and check the area for parking issues.
"Two motorists were dealt with for parking on the zig-zag lines and one further male for using an e-scooter to transport a child to school.
"School time patrols are a regular part of NPT daily work, and these visits will continue to prevent danger to pedestrians."
