A DISPERSAL order is in place at a town centre bus station in the Bradford district after multiple reports of anti-social behaviour and violence.

Over the last few days, police have received reports "of anti-social behaviour and violence in and around Keighley bus station causing a nuisance".

The dispersal order - which started at 7pm on Wednesday - will initially remain in place until 7pm today.

The area covered is bordered by Hanover Street, Cavendish Street, North Street and Airedale Shopping Centre.

Under the order, West Yorkshire Police said officers have the right to "disperse and remove any person suspected of contributing or likely to contribute to anti-social behaviour and instruct the surrender of any relevant property".

Anyone under the age of 16 can be removed to their place of residence or a place of safety.

Inspector John Barker, of Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Youths continue to cause a nuisance in and around the bus station, and this behaviour will not be tolerated.

"The dispersal order is constantly reviewed.

"We hope using this power will reduce the likelihood of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed or distressed, and prevent further crime and disorder."

Anyone with information on those involved in the incidents is asked to contact the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 or go online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat
