A BOY was rushed to hospital today after being injured as a pedestrian in a collision with a vehicle on a Bradford road.

Otley Road in Undercliffe was closed off as emergency services were scrambled to scene of the crash at around 5pm today (Wednesday).

In an unrelated incident, police were also scrambled to another serious road traffic incident in Bradford tonight, this time in Dirkhill Road.

In relation to the Otley Road crash, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "A male child pedestrian was in collision with a trailer being towed by vehicle.

"He has been taken to hospital with a leg injury, but the injury is not life threatening."

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call at 5.01pm today to a report of a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian Otley Road in Undercliffe.

"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Bradford Royal Infirmary."

According to traffic alert at the time, there were "reports of heavy traffic due to accident on Otley Road both ways near the church".

Local residents also said that the road was closed and there were a few emergency vehicles at the scene.

In two posts on X, formerly Twitter, First West Yorkshire put out two service alerts saying that due to a road traffic collision, the 645 service was diverted via Bolton Road and Cliffe Road in both directions and the 686/687 service was diverted via Killinghall Road and Barkerend Road in both directions.

They recently posted on X that Otley Road had reopened and services are back to their usual routes.
