Probe launched into cause of major house fire in Wyke

Six engines were called and firefighters were scrambled to the scene of a home that was "100 per cent involved in fire" at 9.41pm last night, in Cow Close Lane, Wyke.

The property, valued at £700,000 according to a Rightmove listing from June 2023, is a farmhouse situated just off the busy Whitehall Road.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said: "We received reports of a building on fire.

"On arrival at the incident, this was made up to six pumps plus specialist appliances."

All of the 20m by 20m two-storey domestic property was involved in the blaze.

The fire service spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into the blaze has started.

The spokesperson said: "Fire investigation are looking into the incident."

Two large jets, two hose reels and two breathing apparatus were used to battle the flames.

Two pumps from Bradford, along with engines from Cleckheaton, Shipley, Odsal, and Dewsbury fire stations attended the scene.

At 2am, the incident had been reduced to two fire engines.

The Telegraph & Argus visited the scene this morning and saw the emergency services were focused on what looked to be a farmhouse at the end of a rural lane.

There was a WYFRS Personnel Welfare Unit at the scene, as well as a police car and officer.

The roof of the property looked to have gone and fire crews were having to run a hose reel from quite a way further up the lane.

The ambulance service were also called to the scene, but confirmed that no one required treatment.

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We can confirm that a number of ambulance service resources were called to a fire in the Wyke area. But there were no patients."
