HERE'S Jacob's Well roundabout as we have known it for decades.
It now looks entirely different. The transformation of the roundabout, as part of the Bradford City Centre Walking and Cycling Improvements Scheme, will make this busy area far more attractive and user-friendly.
The roundabout, with its grim, soulless subways, has been filled in to create a new ‘super crossing’ as part of Bradford Council’s ambitious plans to improve the city centre, with new traffic-free areas as well as new routes and facilities for public transport, walking and cycling.
The new super crossing will connect the city centre with the area around the National Science and Media Museum - which is currently closed for a £6m refurbishment - the soon-to-open Bradford Live, the Alhambra Theatre and areas around the university and college campuses.
There will be no need for a roundabout at Jacobs Well when Hall Ings becomes a new traffic-free linear park.
