BRADFORD Council has refused plans to turn an agricultural building in Holmfield into a light industrial unit.
A planning application for the work to the Green Belt site was submitted by Rashid Zaman late last year.
Although the building on School Cote Farm, Brow Lane, has a Halifax postcode, it lies on the very edge of the Bradford district, and so any planning applications for the location are in the remit of Bradford Council.
The application was refused by Bradford planning officers this week, and they revealed that the building is subject to ongoing enforcement action due to unauthorised use.
Officers said: “The site is located within close proximity to a number of existing domestic dwellings.
“The area in general is within green belt and is in the main agricultural in nature. The residents of the neighbouring properties have a general surrounding of open fields.
“The introduction of any type of storage or light industrial use will significantly intensify the use of the building and the potential for noise and disturbance.
“It is noted that there has been significant disturbance both currently and over the last few months due to the unauthorised use of the property.
“However, authorised or not, the proposed storage or light industrial use is unacceptable within such close proximity to neighbouring residential dwellings.”
