A PATIENT was taken to hospital after a fire at a hospital in the Bradford district. 

Emergency services received reports of a blaze at Three Valleys Hospital on Burley Court, Steeton with Eastburn, shortly before 6pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters from Silsden, Keighley and Bingley attended, along with crews from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS). 

The fire was extinguished and an investigation to establish the cause is underway.

The hospital was evacuated because of the incident. 

One patient was taken to Airedale Hospital by ambulance to be checked over.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.47pm on Tuesday to reports of a building fire at Burley Court in Steeton with Eastburn.

"This was found to be a flat fire. 

"Crews from Silsden, Keighley and Bingley attended, along with colleagues from NYFRS.

"Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and positive pressure ventilation was used to extinguish the fire.

"We are investigating the cause."

Elysium Healthcare, the private firm which runs the hospital, confirmed the fire broke out in a "very small room".

A spokesperson for the company said: "We are pleased to report there were no serious injuries.

"All patients were able to return to the hospital following a successful evacuation."

According to its website, the hospital accommodates up to 43 patients.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We responded to an incident at Three Valleys Hospital in Steeton with Eastburn on Tuesday. 

"One patient was conveyed to Airedale Hospital by ambulance to be checked over."
