A BRADFORD museum will close over half term to enable electrical work to be carried out at the listed building.

Cartwright Hall in Lister Park will be closed from Saturday, February 10, and is expected to reopen on Tuesday, February 20, as normal.

The work is to replace a lot of the electrical switchgear - which is at the end of its recommended safe working life - so the building continues to be electrically safe.

There will be activities taking place at other Bradford Council museum venues including activities to support a new exhibition about Scouting at Bradford Industrial Museum, the Art of the Samurai activities at Cliffe Castle, and outdoor play activities at Bolling Hall Museum.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, said: “The work at Cartwright Hall is essential and closing during the half-term holidays will have less of an impact on the scheduled programme of school visits, many of which have been booked in since September last year.

“Our other museums will have lots of fun activities for families throughout the half-term holiday.”
