PLANS for more than 180 homes on a piece of land in Bradford have emerged.
People in the Low Moor area have received a letter from Nineteen47, the agent for Homes by Honey, informing them of proposals for a development on land south of Abb Scott Lane.
It could include up to 182 homes, according to the letter.
A public consultation has now begun, with people invited to share their views ahead of a planning application being submitted to Bradford Council.
The letter said: “We are writing to you on behalf of Homes by Honey to provide information on a new housing development within your local area. The site is located within the Low Moor area, to the south of Abb Scott Lane.
“The site was identified for housing development by Bradford Council within the Replacement Unitary Development Plan and the Local Planning Authority has confirmed that within the current planning policy context, the principle of housing development within the site is acceptable.”
It added: “The draft proposals include up to 182 dwellings of varying sizes, styles, and tenures, to create a high-quality development that complements the existing community.
“A detailed design evolution process, considering the various opportunities and constraints of the site has informed the draft layout plan enclosed within. There are two vehicular and pedestrian/cycle access points proposed to serve the development from Abb Scott Lane.
“New public open space and sustainable drainage solutions are incorporated into the design, as well as a new footpath linking Abb Scott Lane with the existing public footpath to the south of the site to support an integrated place-making approach.”
The letter said that responses received “will be reviewed and the proposals updated where appropriate prior to the formal submission of a planning application”.
Nick Turner, a resident of Abb Scott Lane, has raised some concerns.
“We need the houses, but I don’t want it to be detrimental to the area,” he said.
One of his concerns is Abb Scott Lane being used to access the development.
“It’s busy around here,” he said. “It’s the main route for children walking to school.
“There’s also a mini roundabout at the top of the road where the traffic already backs up at busy times.”
He believes the development could add to the traffic and put added pressure on schools and GP surgeries.
A Homes by Honey spokesperson said the application for the proposed development was prepared following consultation with Bradford Council.
They added: “It takes into consideration the local infrastructure, access points and sewerage and drainage required by the development in order to minimise impact and maximise positive benefit for the local community.
“We look forward to submitting our plans for approval by the local authority in due course, with the hope that we will be granted permission to deliver much-needed sustainable new homes for the area.”
