A dog has been put down after police received an emergency call about a child being bitten by the family's pet.
The young child was bitten by the dog whilst playing at home, police confirmed.
The child received an abrasion to the arm which is not believed to be serious.
Police attended the scene and assisted by taking the dog and its owner to a vet.
The dog was put down at the owner's request, a police spokesperson said.
The incident took in Sutton-in-Craven, at around 3pm on Tuesday, February 6.
The breed of the dog has not been confirmed at this time.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called on the afternoon of Tuesday 6 February to an address in Sutton-in-Craven, where a young child had been bitten by the family's pet dog whilst playing at home.
"The child received an abrasion to the arm, which is not believed to be serious.
"Officers attended, and assisted by transporting the dog and its owner to a vet, where the dog was put down at the owner's request."
