Kate Garraway is reportedly set to return to work on ITV’s Good Morning Britain (GMB) on Monday following the funeral of her late husband Derek Draper.
The broadcaster and mum of two said her final goodbye to former lobbyist Draper at his funeral on Friday, February 2.
Friends and family supported Garraway and her children as guests included Sir Elton John, former Prime Minster Sir Tony Blair, ITV host Susanna Reid and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
Draper died on January 3 following a four-year-long battle with COVID-19 after catching the illness during the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Kate Garraway to return to ITV GMB this week
It is now reported that Garraway will return to ITV GMB this Monday in a live interview from her home with co-host Ben Shephard before joining the sofa again.
According to The Sun, Garraway has shared with friends that she wants to keep busy following the death of her late husband.
Alongside returning to GMB, there are also reports that the broadcaster will return to her role on Smooth FM.
As a source told The Sun: “Kate has had an incredibly rough past couple of months, and it has taken its toll mentally and physically.”
Adding: “But she is a workhorse, and journalism, being on live TV, runs through her blood — it’s what she knows and loves. Kate is keen to keep busy and get stuck back into work."
The source added that Garraway hopes that by returning to work she’ll be able to resume “some sort of normality” after caring for Draper for four years.
Garraway was last seen on ITV’s GMB in December when Draper suffered a heart attack seeing the family spend Christmas in hospital beside the former political advisor.
Announcing Draper's passing, Garraway shared a touching post on Instagram: “ Rest gently and peacefully now Derek, my love, I was so lucky to have you in my life.”
